LSR micro-injection molding processes may work very well under testing conditions, but the real problems tend to appear when scaling up and starting high-volume production. Many molders as well as equipment manufacturers are facing new challenges constantly. This is mostly related to the dimensional accuracy of the produced parts. The factors that most often do not affect the production on large parts, may actually affect the reject rate when manufacturing delicate micro-parts. Very little deviation of a few tenths of a milligram may have a big impact on the quality of these micro parts, and therefore on their reliability when placed in use.
In order the achieve the best results, we need maximum precision and smooth interaction between all the units of the injection molding system. For this purpose, we recommend the KTVJ vertical LSR injection molding machine to be used, not only for development, lab work and prototyping and short runs, but also mass-production. These precision machines are very versatile and may be paired with a dosing unit or even have one incorporated for 20KG drums in order to provide even more flexibility.
The precision and the injection results may be seriously affected by the repeatability of the injection mechanism. Therefore, choosing the right machine you do not only have to pay attention to the injection unit, but also the clamp positioning as well as the traverse accuracy. These things are essential when injecting micro-parts.
